The Virginia Innovative Nuclear Hub is pleased to announce the launch of a comprehensive workforce analysis for the nuclear energy industry in Virginia. This multi-phase initiative is being conducted by Mangum Economics and will provide a data-driven assessment of the workforce needed to support the state’s nuclear future.
The analysis will be conducted in phases, with each phase expanding its reach to include new perspectives and data sources. When complete, the study will provide insights into:
- Workforce requirements for construction of new nuclear plants
- Skilled personnel needed for ongoing plant operations
- The supply chain and supporting industries essential to the sector’s success
The results will help inform industry, policymakers, educators, and workforce leaders as they plan for the future of nuclear energy in Virginia.
The Phase 1 Report is now available and can be accessed here: Nuclear Workforce Report first phase FINAL 072525. This initial report marks the first step in building a clear, evidence-based picture of Virginia’s nuclear workforce needs.
